If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to have your photos taken in a literal field of flowers—let me introduce you to Adelman Peony Gardens in Salem, Oregon. This dreamy spot is one of my favorite places to shoot in the spring, and it’s not just because I’m mildly obsessed with peonies (okay, totally obsessed). Read on to hear all about why I love hosting Adelman Peony Gardens Mini Sessions.
Spring in the Willamette Valley is pure magic. The sun starts showing up again (finally), the world turns green, and then—bam!—bloom season hits. Cherry blossoms, lupine, roses, irises, rhododendrons…Oregon knows how to do spring right. Adelman Peony Gardens is like nature showing off in the best way, with rows and rows of gorgeous blooms in every shade of pink, coral, and cream you can imagine.
It’s colorful, romantic, and just a teensy bit over the top in the best possible way. And honestly? It makes my job way too easy.
I know life is busy. Like, coffee-fueled, to-do-list juggling, how-is-it-already-May kind of busy. That’s why I love offering mini sessions here each spring. They’re quick, easy, and just long enough to get the beautiful, frame-worthy photos you’ve been meaning to update—without the stress of a full session.
This year, I had kids ranging in age from 7 months old all the way to 24. That’s the beauty of minis: whether your kiddo is just learning to sit up or just graduated college (cue the proud tears), there’s a way to make it work for your family.
Each mini session is about 15–20 minutes long, which is just the right amount of time to get the sweet, candid, and classic shots without anyone melting down (yes, even the grownups). I’ll guide you through simple, natural posing and help everyone feel comfortable—even the camera-shy types.
And if you’re worried about little ones wandering off among the blooms—don’t stress. I scope out the best spots ahead of time, so we’re close to parking and paths, and honestly some of the best shots will be when your kid starts wandering.
Honestly? It’s hard not to fall in love with this place. The blooms are stunning, and every single session here feels like a little breath of fresh spring air. I leave with a full memory card and a full heart every time. Plus, when your session is over, I get to wander the fields and just enjoy the flowers.
If you’ve ever dreamed of a flower-filled photo session—or just want an excuse to update your photos while the peonies are popping—this spot is worth putting on your calendar for next spring.
