So you’ve booked your senior session—yay! Now comes the big question: what to wear for senior pictures in Oregon?
When you look back at your senior photos years from now, I want you to see you. Not a version of you dressed like someone you saw on Pinterest. Not a stiff, over-accessorized version your mom might have picked out (sorry, moms). Just you—with style that feels like your own, a little polished, and totally timeless. Having said that, this is a great time to dress up.
I always tell my seniors to aim for 2–3 outfits. This gives you variety in your gallery but doesn’t eat up too much session time changing clothes.
Here’s a quick breakdown of my favorite outfit combos:
There’s just something about a flowy dress catching the light that never goes out of style. Whether we’re in the mountains, the orchard, or wandering through the flower fields, this look always photographs beautifully.
Look for something in a soft color—cream, dusty blue, soft pink, or sage are always winners. Long sleeves or short, either works. The key is movement and a flattering shape. Bonus if it has a little texture, like lace, eyelet, or a tiered skirt.
Think jeans or flowy pants with a neutral top. A fitted tee, cropped sweater, or linen button-up tucked just right is simple but elevated. These kinds of outfits are great for sitting poses or if we’re heading somewhere like Mary’s Peak or downtown Corvallis for a more chill, lifestyle feel.
Keep the palette light—creams, soft gray, light olive, warm tan. These play well with any background and never compete with your beautiful face.
Love boots? Sneakers? A bold hat? Great! Let’s add something that feels like you. Maybe it’s your favorite necklace or that go-to top you always reach for when you’re headed somewhere fun. This outfit should feel confident and easy. If it’s something you’d wear out to dinner or to a concert, it’s probably perfect.
Avoid big logos and super bright colors/neons—they tend to pull focus and don’t age well in photos. They can also reflect onto your skin, giving it an unflattering color cast.
Don’t overthink matching your outfit to the location. Most Oregon backdrops are forgiving and gorgeous in every season.
Layers add interest, so feel free to bring a sweater, jacket, or button-up you can toss on or off.
Still unsure? My seniors can text me outfit options if they’re stuck. Seriously, I love helping with this part!
