I love fall in Oregon. One of our must-do activities is visiting a local pumpkin patch. We love the fun activities, searching for the perfect pumpkin, all the fall goodies, and just enjoying being outside in Oregon in October. Luckily, we are surrounded by great options for a day at the pumpkin patch. In this post, I’ll share 5 fantastic pumpkin patches in or around Salem, Oregon for your family to enjoy. I hope you’ll make as many fun family memories as we have.
Fordyce Farm is has a fun pumpkin patch with free admission and lots of free activities for the whole family. These include a hay fort, indoor hay maze, and playground. They also have some paid activities, including a corn cannon and corn maze. The maze has monsters at night, but there are some nights set aside for families to enjoy without the monsters. They also offer hay rides and a small farm store with decor, bakery items, milkshakes, ice cream, produce, and a gift shop. Some of their activities are only available on weekends, so be sure to check their site or facebook page before you go!
Bauman’s Farm and Garden is a Salem rite of passage for serious pumpkin patch enthusiasts. You can spend several hours here hunting the perfect pumpkin, participating in all the activities, and eating yummy treats. It’s more expensive that most of the other patches, but our family spent the better part of the day there and had a great time. The cost of admission includes over a dozen super fun activities including a petting zoo, giant swing, slide tower, obstacle course, apple cannon, dark maze, and jumping pillows. Even with teenagers, I felt like the activities are worth the cost. Be sure to check their website for the most up to date admission information and cost. For food, there’s a deli in the farm store, and on the weekends more food vendors join the fun. We had pumpkin ice cream, apple cider donuts, and yummy tacos.
Fir Point Farms in Aurora is a bit of a drive from Salem but is fun and lovely. Admission is free and they have some fun free activities including corn hole, tether ball, and a petting zoo. You can buy feed cups in the store to feed the mini horses, mini pigs, and chickens. They also offer a corn maze, hay ride, mini pumpkin painting, and bounce houses.
EZ Orchards has a small entrance fee (higher in the evening and on the weekends) and lots of fun activities. Their attractions include a corn maze, hay rides, and farm animals. One of our favorite things is their yummy homemade donuts. My kids also love the pedal tractors and rubber duck races.
Bose Family Farms is a beautiful farm with an awesome corn maze and great pumpkins. Admission is free, and there’s a small charge for hay rides and the corn maze. Pumpkins are 50 cents for a tiny pumpkin to $15 for extra large and just $20 for a jumbo pumpkin. It’s also a great place to get ornamental corn and wheat bundles.
Salem, Oregon, and it’s surrounding areas offer a lot of great options for pumpkin picking and harvest festivals. Whether you’re looking for the perfect jack-o’-lantern pumpkin, a fun day with your family, or just some yummy fall treats, these five pumpkin patches-Fordyce, Bauman, Fir Point, EZ Orchards, and Bose-have something great for everyone.
